Andrew Grace took delivery of his new Seawind 1160 LITE catamaran “Pali Pali” in Vietnam two years ago and has been cruising South East Asia ever since. As Andrew is a very experienced technical diver, he and his wife sailed to some of the most remote and spectacular dives sites in South East Asia and captured their adventures in a series of YouTube videos with spectacular vision both under and above the water. We have just returned from a month’s sailing trip to Tasmania on our Seawind 1250 – Whiskers! This was our second trip in two years having enjoyed it so much last year that we vouched to return. We left on 8th February and sailed from Martha Cove to Bicheno on the NE Coast in 4 days via Cape Woolamai, Deal Island, and Badger Island (off Flinders Island). Our total sailing time was 52 hours so we made it in good time with the weather in our favour. After 2 days in Bicheno, we sailed down the east coast of Tasmania past the scenic Freycinet Peninsula and Schouten Island. We spent a night at Riedle Bay, Maria Island then ventured further on towards Tasman Island sailing past the majestic rock cliffs of the Tasman peninsula and into Port Arthur. The keenly anticipated Seawind 1260 is nearing launch, with the first boat only a few months from her debut at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show. Last Saturday, January 21st 2017, Outremer had the honor of receiving the “European Yacht of the Year” trophy for the third time, while at the Düsseldorf Boat Show with the Outremer 4X. The stability of a catamaran design has found its way into a new very practical application in the form of the yacht tender Takacat. This innovative lightweight design from New Zealand is now being represented by Multihull Central. Takacat dinghies range from 2.4m to 3.8m with either an open bow or closed tapered bow.  Designed to save weight, they offer superior stability and are an affordable alternative to the regular cumbersome RIBs currently available for cruisers. With large pontoons on each side, the Takacat doesn’t lean over and become unstable like traditional dinghies. She drives well through all conditions with the floats providing the hull shape and stability. New technology in inflatable design means the lightweight floor (bridgedeck)  is both firm when in use, but compact when deflated.
