Until you have sailed a Seawind, you may not fully appreciate why Seawind owners love them so much. Unbelievably tough and reliable, ergonomically well thought through, and arguably the best performing production catamaran range on the market with mini-keels thanks to their narrower hull and lighter displacement than most competitors. Seawind Catamarans have a long history of facilitating a range of owners’ get togethers all over the world. The Moreton Bay (Brisbane Queensland) regatta has been operating for a number of years, and has moved around the bay exploring different racing and cruising and, most importantly, partying locations over that time. For the last two years the event has been based out of the Wynnum Manly Yacht Club in Manly, Queensland. This year 2014 saw 15 boats attend the event, about par for the course for numbers, ranging from early model 1000’s to the latest 1250. The format for the event is a fun sail on Friday afternoon, for those that can make it, followed by a barbie at the club that evening. This year we had the very great pleasure of a presentation from David and Georgina off Seawind 1160, Nimrod, concerning their…
Multihull Central’s Brent Vaughan tries some big wave surfing onboard a Turrissmo 9 catamaran “Flyer” for the 18th annual Mega Multihull regatta on Sydney’s Botany Bay. (Photo by Antony Edwards) With a trip to the Seawind / Corsair factory in Asia and Outremer factory in the South of France scheduled immediately after Easter, I was quickly running out of time to organise a boat to race in Kurnell Cat Club’s Mega Multihull regatta that we had again sponsored over the Easter weekend. But a quick call to some old sailing mates, Anthony Edwards and Greg Wyers a day before the regatta got the kind of stop-everything-at-the-drop-of-a-hat response I was looking for. At the break of dawn before racing commenced that Saturday, we were motoring out from the Multihull Central marina on Sydney Harbour onboard a Malcolm Tennant designed Turrissimo 9 sports cruising catamaran named…
Following an unprecedented period of catamaran sales within the last quarter, with four new Seawinds being ordered and eight used boats sold, four of which settled all last week, there is a feeling amongst the Multihull Central dealer network that the tide might be turning on boat sales and the buyers market may soon come to an end. This feeling is even more so prevalent in the USA, where our fellow Seawind distribution colleagues in Florida and California report that quality used boat stock has all but tried up with only a few old poorly maintained charter boats still remain on the market unsold. It’s no secret the US economy has been very unstable over the past few years, however recent financial data indicates that a more promising future is hopefully not to far away, with the US stock exchange hitting an all time…
The newly formed sales team of Multihull Central, under new management of long term Seawind Sales & Marketing Manager Brent Vaughan, celebrated a triumphant week last week settling no less than four pre-owned catamarans, in addition to another four boats sold in the previous couple of months. These industry leading results followed an intensive day of sales training during the dealer conference at Multihull Central’s waterside Sydney headquarters, where the team adopted a series of professional sales and marketing programs aimed at providing superior sales results, while ensuring customers find the most suitable catamaran for their purposes. Following the dealer conference, the Re-opening party got into full swing, with VIP guests including customers, suppliers and contractors, enjoying a gourmet BBQ and the live music by Rio Rakoia by the waterfront, while sipping cocktails as the sunset on the Multihull Central marina and SydneyHarbour.
