The all new Outremer 45 launched at the Cannes Boat Show in France only a year ago, is now on display at Multihull Central, with an Open Day announced for Saturday the 7th of November, from 10am to 3pm. The Outremer 45 is a true blue water cruiser and is purpose built for sailing the world’s oceans in comfort and safety, with a high performance hull designed to reduce the passage making time and maximize time spent at the destinations. The Outremer 45 on display is a great example of this, with the owners having sailed from Europe to Australia across the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. The boat was designed by and collaboration between Outremer and Barreau-Neuman naval architects, Franck Darnet interior design, and Patrick le Quement for deck systems and operations. The design features high and powerful hulls with generous buoyancy and high…
“I had a motor 30 foot motor cruiser for about 10 years and when I moved to Brighton I joined the Royal Brighton Yacht Club. When I asked about mooring there, they told me that my boat would “need to grow a mast” if I wanted to more it there. Miranda and I visited the 2014 Melbourne Boat Show and were knocked out when we saw Terry and Barbara Jones’s 1250 there. So much space for living and entertaining clients. Found out about the June Whitsundays Seawinds Regatta and thought this would be a great way to find out more about the Seawinds and meet some owners. Graeme Nolan spent the week onboard with us training and explaining everything. My knowledge of sailing was limited to sailing a few Hoby Cats, so a lot to learn. Met some great people who were owners of…

Multihull Central’s recently appointed Event’s Coordinator enjoys her first Whitsunday Rally as a novice sailor. Such a fantastic week had up in our very own Australian Paradise. This year we had 30 people across 7 Seawind Catamarans island hopping through the Whitsunday’s over the entire week. The Whitsunday’s first of all is undeniably beautiful, I was also surprised how pleasant the weather is up there in Winter having never been in season myself before. The first group dinner at Sorrentos was great to break the ice and meet the teams before we set sail the next morning over the Cid Harbour. Unfortunately the rain set in towards the back end of the race, however once we anchored and after our teams creative sandcastles we saw the light and had a stunning sundowner all onboard the party boat, Reflection! I might have been a little…
Following the Sanctuary Cove Boat Show last week, we took a few customers & the Seawind 1160 Lite out for a spin on the Sunshine State’s Gold Coast waters. It was the perfect day for a sail with the winds reasonably strong and our sails ready for action. The test sailors on board had sailed a couple of times before and were helping the guys tack. And steer.. Terry Jones on the bow explaining the Lite’s Genoa. Checking performance levels. It was great to be able to show the Lite’s advantage with lift & acceleration over the heavier models. Crew complete with Seawind Caps – how a Seawind should be sailed! We hope everyone enjoyed their sail just as much as we did. Don’t miss out on the next test sail after Sydney Boat show or alternatively contact us to book a test sail…
Multihull Central’s Brent Vaughan tries some big wave surfing onboard a Turrissmo 9 catamaran “Flyer” for the 18th annual Mega Multihull regatta on Sydney’s Botany Bay. (Photo by Antony Edwards) With a trip to the Seawind / Corsair factory in Asia and Outremer factory in the South of France scheduled immediately after Easter, I was quickly running out of time to organise a boat to race in Kurnell Cat Club’s Mega Multihull regatta that we had again sponsored over the Easter weekend. But a quick call to some old sailing mates, Anthony Edwards and Greg Wyers a day before the regatta got the kind of stop-everything-at-the-drop-of-a-hat response I was looking for. At the break of dawn before racing commenced that Saturday, we were motoring out from the Multihull Central marina on Sydney Harbour onboard a Malcolm Tennant designed Turrissimo 9 sports cruising catamaran named…
The premiere sailing magazine of the United States, Cruising World, has announced the Outremer 5X as the best Full-Sized Multihull Over 50 Feet in their prestigious Boat of the Year awards for 2014. The Outremer 5X fought off competition from two other French nominees, including the Lagoon 52 and the Fountaine Pajot Victoria 67 to take out the coveted Boat of the Year Award, confirming Outremer’s place as one of the world’s most innovative multihull manufacturers. Only a year ago the Outremer 5X was awarded the European Yacht of the Year making the 5X one of the most awarded production catamaran available. The 5X was a culmination of design influences from a “Dream Team” assembled by Outremer Yachting, including VPLP for Naval Architecture (responsible for designing the winning 2012 Americas Cup trimaran), Franck Darnet for Interior Design, Michel Dejoyeaux for deck layout (two time…
With 9 multihulls in attendance the 3rd Multihull Central Twilight race, also names the “Christmas Cruise” had some fantastic conditions with winds around 10-15 knots, very warm breeze and blue skies. This broke the fleet up across the harbour until winds dropped to almost nothing for one of the closest finishes yet! The fleet saw some new vessels participate in this ever growing fleet, including a custom designed & built catamaran that has travelled all the way from France. This vessel is now heading south to Tasmania, although we hope to have them join us again for the final race in March. The clear winner, crossing the line a full 15 minutes before the second boat, was Jim Sinclair on board “No Qualms” a Schionning 11.6, this vessel is also leading the series! After the race the fleet headed back to the club house…
