For over two decades, the Seawind 1160 has been one of the most celebrated cruising catamarans in the world. Launched in 2004 after the success of the Seawind 1000, the 1160 quickly earned numerous International Design and Boat of the Year Awards, with hundreds of boats sold worldwide. These vessels have completed many hundreds of ocean crossings and multiple world circumnavigations, proving their blue water capability time and time again.

In 2014, the Seawind 1160 Lite introduced the second generation of this model, offering a simplified and more accessible version while still delivering the performance, safety, and ease of maintenance Seawind owners love.

Now, in 2025, we take the 1160 into Generation 3 with the all-new Seawind 1160XL – A modern evolution of an award-winning classic.

After years of production and hundreds of Seawind 1160’s being built, the award winning design (named one of the best multihulls of all time by Cruising World magazine), is getting a total make over and a serious upgrade in size, style and volume. Yet optimising the boat’s displacement through an updated laminate schedule and new outboard motors to maintain the best performance possible.
