Steve Thomas “the tactician” at NZ Boat Sales has seen business go from strength to strength since the doors first opened as Optimum Marine & Shipbrokers at Nelson Marina. Sadly, Steve’s dad, Don Thomas, who founded the business in 1993, passed away this year. Steve has now taken the reins and is working hard on an improved “customer focused” approach. He likes to offer plenty of free information to help people make the best decisions when buying or selling boats.
Steve trained in marine engineering after leaving school, before moving on to a career in theatre lighting. He still enjoys this as a hobby, along with cruising local waters in his classic launch “Seabird”. Steve’s interest in multihulls is developing rapidly. He says ” after sailing on a new Outremer 49 it was obvious to me that monohulls will be left in their wake. Bring on the revolution!”
