Description | Features
Thinking of cruising the Mediterranean or further then begin your sailing in France on this ready to go ocean cruising performance catamaran.
Traverse is a superb example of the acclaimed Outremer 51, a performance blue water catamaran designed for sailors who refuse to compromise between speed, seaworthiness, and comfort. Built by Outremer in La Grande-Motte, France—a shipyard globally recognized for its expertise in long-range cruising catamarans—the 51 is celebrated for its lightness, balance, and agility at sea, all while offering remarkable living aboard and understated luxury. It remains the benchmark for those looking to sail far, fast, and safely.
Delivered in 2022, Traverse is an Owner’s Version and embodies the very best of what this model represents. Her first owners undertook an ambitious voyage from Europe to New Zealand, a route that perfectly showcases her long-distance capability and inherent reliability. She was then entrusted to the hands of Mike Golding, one of the world’s most respected ocean racers and a veteran of the Vendée Globe. With his expertise and high standards, Traverse completed her return to Europe via the Pacific, Indian and Atlantic oceans, performing flawlessly throughout—an experience that further underlines her credentials as a capable, proven offshore cruiser.
Technically, Traverse is well equipped with a longeron that allows for a staysail, a valuable addition for serious blue water sailing, enhancing versatility and control in heavy conditions. Traverse benefits from an optimized foam-core construction throughout the coach roof and structural elements—carefully engineered to reduce weight while maintaining strength, rigidity, and thermal insulation. These refinements contribute significantly to the boat’s exceptional sailing efficiency and handling.
Inside, her layout is refined and intelligently designed. The owner’s hull occupies the entire port side, offering a spacious aft cabin, generous storage, and a private en-suite with separate shower, ensuring exceptional comfort for life aboard. To starboard, the forward cabin has been thoughtfully converted into a flexible space—ideal as an additional berth, office, or utility area, depending on the needs of the voyage. The saloon is bright and panoramic, with excellent visibility, cross-ventilation, and an inviting dining area seamlessly connected to the galley.
Energy autonomy has been carefully considered with lithium batteries, solar power, and a Watt&Sea hydrogenerator, Traverse is ideally suited to long periods off-grid, offering freedom and self-sufficiency wherever you choose to explore. Every system onboard reflects the experience and standards of her owners, and her maintenance has been meticulous throughout.
Flagged in the UK and now offered at €1,039,000 ex VAT, Traverse is a rare opportunity to step into a nearly new, ocean-proven Outremer 51 without the waiting time of a new build. She is currently located at the Outremer shipyard in La Grande-Motte, where she was originally launched, and being located at the yard a new owner has the full confidence, support, and technical insight that only the original builder can provide.
Whether you dream of a family sabbatical, a high-latitude adventure, or an effortless circumnavigation, Traverse is more than ready to take you there with elegance, integrity, and unmatched performance.

“Many thanks to Jason Brosnahan at Multihull Central in Opua New Zealand. Because of Covid lockdowns I pretty much had to purchase Emocean sight unseen in New Zealand and then have her transported to Australia. Jason made what could have been a very stressful experience a whole lot easier by putting me in touch with the right people and by providing many hours of honest, professional and enthusiastic support.
A big thanks as well to Chris Henry at Multihull Central in Australia who assisted us in getting both into and out of Brisbane Harbour. My only regret is that I was unable to share with Jason the bottle of French Champagne that I found in the fridge. Regards Andrew Bateman”

I recently took delivery of my beautiful new Seawind 1260 “Pirate Pete” in Brisbane before sailing it up to the Whitsundays for charter. I couldn’t have done it without the help of the incomparable sail master “Brett Hodder” from Multihull Central who guided us through the passage and taught us the ropes (I mean sheets). The boat itself sailed effortlessly through the ocean day and night with its crew in total comfort. I couldn’t be happier with the boat and service from Multihull Central and would recommend a Seawind 1260 to anyone wanting a true sailing boat that doesn’t compromise on comfort or sailability, combining these 2 key elements in the ultimate package. “Pirate Pete” is now available for bareboat charter in the Whitsundays through “Cumberland Charter Yachts” if you’d like to “try before you buy” and will also be available on Sydney Harbour from December to March through “Charterboat Central”. Thanks again and big thumbs up to Multihull Central.

In July 2016 I received my new Seawind 1160 Lite. The team at Multihull Central did an impressive job in preparing the catamaran for the handover. It was in all parts ready to set sail and beautifully prepared for us. The introduction was extremely competent and the handing over was very enjoyable and a great experience. The few minor issues that emerged were immediately resolved as they became visible. The professional and highly experienced handing over contributed greatly to the pleasure we have been getting from sailing our new Seawind catamaran.

Seawind 1160 Resort: First in Sydney Harbour! After some initial challenges with the delivery date of our Seawind 1160 Resort, we finally received delivery on November 21st 2016. The commissioning team at Multihull Central couldn’t have worked harder for us to make sure we made our charter deadlines for December 1st. Considering the boat only arrived at Multihull Central on November 23rd, it was amazing to have it up and running for charter on December 2nd 2016. Thank you Brent, Christine & John for all your help!

To Brent and the team, I wanted to thank you for your assistance with selling my Outremer 51. I’m glad we had you as a trusted agent to work with. I was shocked at how quickly we sold and delighted with the result, in fact I struggle to imagine a better outcome.
